Public Profile

Open informationCharles Isaac Carmichael

Charles Isaac Carmichael is twenty years old, born in Shangrila, and known almost everywhere as Chase. He is the eldest child of Isaac and Melanie Carmichael. The family is wealthy, well connected, and comfortable among Shangrila's elite. Their money comes through trade and guild influence. Their reputation also comes with old rumors about demons, witches, and a bloodline that was never entirely human.

Chase is Nephilim, though he looks human. Thick dark-brown curls fall over his forehead above warm brown eyes and strong brows. He has a straight nose, full lips, a clean jaw with a little stubble, and a grin that makes his sharper features look much friendlier. He is broad across the shoulders and chest, narrow at the waist, and powerfully built through the legs. Battleball made the most of what his bloodline gave him.

Most people know Chase from ShangU or Battleball. He plays Blitzer for House Centaurus and wears number 16. The Herald calls him Crash Carmichael because he attacks midfield at speed and seems happiest when somebody tries to stop him. He has won the collegiate league's top Blitzer honor twice and is one of the best face-off specialists in university play.

Chase likes the attention. He is good with supporters, easy to approach around campus, and usually willing to talk if he is not already late for something. He flirts without much ceremony and can join a table, party, or half-formed plan as though he had been invited all along. The Carmichael name may seem intimidating from a distance. Chase usually is not.

Away from the field, his priorities are obvious. Practice gets his effort. Matches get everything he has. Classes, paperwork, appointments, and long-term plans get whatever is left. He still lives at Carmichael Manor and travels to campus. Look near the field, the gym, a crowded lunch table, or anywhere he can plausibly claim he was headed next.

Open informationAppearance

Chase dresses for comfort and movement. University shirts, Centaurus green and gold, cargo pants, athletic shorts, worn jackets, and practical shoes cover most days. His clothes fit because money makes tailoring and replacement easy. He knows when something looks good on him. He simply does not think about it as much as Gabrielle or Melanie would.

He carries himself like someone used to his own strength. Chase stands easily, takes up space, and touches people he likes without making a ceremony of it. He can look polished in a family portrait, violent in a match photograph, sleepy over breakfast, or completely at home in a mess of his own making. None of those versions feels false.

Open informationAffiliations

House Centaurus Battleball is the affiliation Chase chose for himself. It gave him teammates, coaches, hard rules, and a future he can picture without inheriting Isaac's work. ShangU matters for the same reason. On campus, people can know him as an athlete, a friend, a flirt, or a nuisance before they know him as a Carmichael.

House Carmichael is harder. Chase is the eldest son and expected public heir. He lives at the Manor, spends the family's money, uses its protection, and benefits from its influence. He also resents what the household expects from him. Leaving would mean giving up far more than a bedroom. Staying means living inside a system he says he hates.

Open informationReputation

Supporters know a fearless Blitzer who wins possession and runs straight into pressure. Teammates know that he works harder in practice than his habits elsewhere would suggest. Students may know the athlete, the handsome Carmichael, the flirt, the party guest, or the face from a Herald sketch. Family acquaintances see Isaac's eldest son and wonder what he will inherit.

All of those versions are Chase. None tells the whole story.

Open informationCurrent Life

Chase plans to play Battleball professionally and wants to stay with Centaurus. Before that, he wants the Five Houses Cup. His plans beyond the sport are much less organized. He wants freedom, good company, good food, late mornings, and the right to choose who matters to him. He has no useful answer for the day Isaac demands more, ShangU stops being enough, or Battleball can no longer postpone the family question.

For now, practice is on the schedule, the match has rules, and the Core will rise at midfield. Chase knows what to do with that.

Private context

Private Context

Private context

Chase knows a great many people and trusts very few of them. Being popular is easy. Letting someone close gives the Carmichaels another person they can watch, pressure, or use.

He needs reassurance more than he admits. Chase wants to feel chosen, useful, and hard to leave. Praise reaches him quickly. So does visible need. Someone who makes him feel necessary can move him before he has asked what they expect in return.

His conflict with the Carmichaels is real, but it is full of holes. Chase hates manipulation, cruelty, and seeing a person treated as property. He still accepts the money, labor, protection, and influence that make his own life comfortable. He can fight for one person and avoid looking at the system around them.

Personality

What makes Chase easy to like, and what makes living with him harder.

Open information

Public Profile

Open informationFirst Impression

Chase usually seems easy to know. He smiles readily, speaks before rehearsing, and does not make strangers fight through formal manners to reach him. He is relaxed, confident, and used to being noticed. Depending on the day, that can read as charming, careless, funny, flirtatious, arrogant, or all of the above.

He likes people and assumes most of them will like him back. Looks, money, status, and athletic fame have rewarded that confidence for most of his life. Rejection can genuinely surprise him. Indifference bothers him because there is nothing to charm, argue with, or win over.

The warmth is real. Chase likes company, gives affection freely, and usually notices when someone is obviously alone. He is often at his best when nobody needs a grand plan: eating, joking, touching, wasting an afternoon, or helping with the problem directly in front of him.

Open informationImpulsive

Chase is impulsive. Attraction, sympathy, anger, excitement, fear, pride, and protectiveness can all move him before he has thought past the next few minutes. He is not exceptionally bright, and he has little patience for long analysis. Most plans are short. Confidence is expected to cover the missing parts.

That instinct is excellent for Battleball. He reacts fast, commits hard, and can turn a loose Core into an attack before the defense settles. It is worse everywhere else. Chase usually knows what he wants. He is much less reliable about the cost or the next step.

He hates admitting that somebody else saw trouble first. Gabrielle often does. Coaches do. Isaac always claims he did. Chase may reject good advice because it sounded like an order, then return later with the same idea and act as though it occurred to him naturally.

Open informationGenerosity

Chase gives things away easily: money, meals, gifts, favors, time, attention, and affection. Some of that is generosity. Some comes from never having learned what those things cost other people. He can promise help before understanding the work or assume money will solve a problem because it usually has.

Sympathy becomes especially strong when attraction is involved. During Preparatory, Chase saw an enslaved young woman offered for sale, found her beautiful, decided she needed rescuing, and acted with no plan for her safety. The concern was sincere. So was the attraction that pushed him into action. A good impulse does not always make a good decision.

He wants to think of himself as someone who helps. Gratitude can therefore be dangerous. Praise his heart, make him feel needed, or give him a problem he can solve, and Chase may be involved before he has asked enough questions.

Open informationAttention and Vanity

Chase enjoys admiration. Compliment his body, his game, his looks, or a moment when the whole stadium knew his name, and he will not pretend to dislike it. He treats fans well because he enjoys them. Attractive women after a match are especially welcome.

Vanity does not make him cruel. It does make him easy to distract. Compliments work. Flirting works. Tears, a good smile, or the suggestion that someone needs him can change his plans for the night. He often notices manipulation late, and sometimes decides he does not mind.

He does not need every spotlight. Chase supports teammates, shares credit, and passes when another player has the better chance. The problem begins when admiration starts making decisions for him. He believes he is much harder to manage than he actually is.

Open informationLoyalty

Once Chase considers someone his, he holds on. He protects quickly, forgives too much, and struggles to accept that a relationship may be over. He can know that distance is safer and still feel the urge to close it.

Loyalty makes him brave and reckless in equal measure. He will take a real risk for someone he loves. He may also ignore what they asked for, underestimate the danger, or make matters worse because standing still feels like abandonment.

Chase is not naturally suspicious of people he likes. He explains away warning signs when the alternative would force him to reconsider an attachment. Betrayal lands hard because he gives trust in large pieces.

Open informationPrivilege

Chase knows he is wealthy. He does not always understand how thoroughly wealth has shaped him. The Carmichael name has kept him out of legal trouble, carried him through neglected classes, paid for elite training, and made reckless mistakes easier to survive. He resents the family and still relies on nearly everything it provides.

Slavery exposes the contradiction most clearly. Chase dislikes watching someone suffer and has acted against ownership when a specific person reached him. He has never built that feeling into a consistent opposition to the institution. Enslaved workers still maintain his home and comfort. His conscience works person by person, which lets the larger system stay out of focus.

There is no elaborate defense behind that contradiction. Chase avoids looking at it. His better instincts stay immediate because he has never followed them far enough to challenge the life that benefits him.

Open informationAvoidance

Outside Battleball, Chase procrastinates. He sleeps late when he can, delays serious conversations, ignores paperwork, and expects tomorrow to be easier. Tutors, a flexible university, athletic value, and family influence have kept him moving through ShangU without demanding much interest in ordinary academics.

He is comfortable discussing sex, sport, attraction, arguments, and whatever he feels right now. Dependence, guilt, power, and long-term responsibility are harder. Chase would rather promise to do better than explain exactly what better would require.

Avoidance is not coldness. Chase often feels too much. He simply prefers a new person, practice, party, or crisis to sitting still with what already hurts.

Open informationControl and Rebellion

Control brings out his worst stubbornness, especially when it comes from Isaac. An order can make Chase resist before he decides whether it was reasonable. Humiliation makes him reckless. Attempts to shape him often produce the defiance they were meant to prevent.

His rebellion is personal. Chase knows he does not want to become Isaac. He hates his father's methods and distrusts Melanie's polished calculations. His idea of freedom is smaller than reforming Shangrila or dismantling the family. He wants to choose his pleasures, loyalties, and attachments without permission.

He resists the family because he has a conscience and because he hates being managed. Both are true.

Open informationDiscipline

Battleball gets a version of Chase that little else sees. He arrives because the team depends on him. He listens to coaches, repeats drills, studies mistakes, conditions hard, and accepts correction from people he respects. After a loss, he may return alone and repeat the failed movement until someone makes him leave.

The sport gives him immediate feedback, physical work, clear rules, visible stakes, and a talent that rewards discipline. Most classes and family obligations offer none of that. Battleball fits the way Chase thinks and moves.

That is why the sport matters so much. It is one place where his confidence rests on work he can feel.

Open informationHell's White Sheep

Among the Carmichaels, Chase is the soft one. That is a family comparison, not a claim of innocence.

He can be selfish, vain, lustful, resentful, and careless. He benefits from slavery and money he did not earn. He can turn somebody else's pain into a chance to feel heroic. He can confuse being wanted with being good.

He also keeps forming attachments that are inconvenient to Isaac. Chase feels sympathy before calculating value. He dislikes cruelty even when he lacks the courage to confront its source. He wants people to choose him freely. He wants a life that feels like his.

Hell's White Sheep means the closest thing this family has to a conscience, not a spotless hero.

Private context

Private Context

Private context

Chase wants reassurance more than the public charm suggests. He is used to being admired in public and controlled in private. That makes him chase affection while resisting anyone who openly claims authority over him. A partner who makes him feel free can gain a great deal of influence without either of them naming it.

He is especially vulnerable to the fear that someone important will leave, be taken, or be hurt because of him. Scarlett turned that fear into fact. Gabrielle became the answer Chase could live with: the person inside the family whom Isaac could not remove without damaging his own household.

Chase's relationship with Gabrielle holds comfort, desire, trust, dependence, possessiveness, and the belief that she is permanent. He does not think that prevents anyone else from mattering. He does expect anyone close to him to understand that Gabrielle will never become optional.

Background

The history Chase knows, the parts he keeps private, and the truths his family still hides from him.

Open information

Public Profile

Open informationBorn Into the Carmichaels

Chase was born at Carmichael Manor with a midwife and household staff in attendance. Isaac and Melanie could provide anything their children needed, but they left most daily care to nannies, tutors, servants, and slaves. Chase and Gabrielle spent far more time with each other than with their parents. Chase found trouble; Gabrielle usually saw it coming. Their parents brought them forward when a polished family image was useful.

Open informationBattleball

Battleball caught Chase's attention early. He followed the sport, copied players around the estate, and turned open ground into an imaginary field. At Shangrila Preparatory, athletics became the only part of school that held him for long.

His family name kept doors open. His growing physical ability gave the school a reason to tolerate weak interest elsewhere. Isaac approved because Chase's success reflected well on the household and tied the Carmichaels more closely to public life.

Chase entered ShangU with few academic plans and a clear place on the Battleball field. The university suited him. He could build his days around training, matches, parties, and the people he met along the way. The Carmichael name made him visible at once, but his play gave people a reason to remember him for something else. His debut established him as an exceptional face-off player, followed by Herald coverage, Centaurus support, and two top-Blitzer honors. He plans to carry that success into a professional career with Centaurus.

Open informationUniversity Life

ShangU gives Chase enough flexibility to put Battleball at the center of his education. Classes fit around training, team meetings, conditioning, recovery, matches, and the social life that follows them.

He lives at Carmichael Manor but is a familiar face across campus. Students may see him leaving the gym, arriving late, eating with teammates, flirting at a party, or moving through the grounds as though the next obligation can wait. He knows many people and keeps only a few close.

Open informationPresent Day

Chase is still the expected Carmichael heir, though he has never accepted the future attached to the title. He lives at the estate, plays for Centaurus, attends ShangU, and delays any choice that would force those loyalties into open conflict. From the outside, he has money, fame, family influence, and a professional career ahead of him.

That is enough truth for a newspaper profile.

Private context

Private Context

Private contextA Household Built for Appearances

Carmichael Manor gave Chase comfort, not safety. Isaac uses affection, punishment, reward, humiliation, and temptation to shape his children. Melanie manages the family's public image with the same care she gives a formal event. Both expect Chase and Gabrielle to reflect well on the household.

Outside the estate, the Carmichael name protected Chase. Inside it, being the eldest son made Isaac more determined to correct him. Gabrielle is better suited to the family's methods, but Chase is the public heir. Isaac treats his kindness, impulsiveness, and lack of patience for manipulation as faults.

Chase and Gabrielle relied on each other from childhood. He found trouble. She usually saw it coming. Gabrielle learned how to redirect him, cover for him, and keep their parents from making matters worse.

Their inheritance became impossible to dismiss at puberty. Chase grew stronger, faster, and tougher than training could explain. His resistance and unusual presence appeared with those changes. Melanie's witchcraft was known inside the house. Isaac's true identity was not.

Private contextThe First Rescue

During Preparatory, Chase saw an enslaved young woman close to his age offered for sale. He knew almost nothing about her. He found her beautiful, felt sorry for her, and decided by that evening that he was going to rescue her.

He freed her, brought her to the Manor, and hid her in his room. He had no safe destination, no money plan, and no idea how long the secret could last. Isaac found her and returned her to the owner. The Carmichael name kept Chase from official punishment.

The incident did not make Chase an abolitionist. He kept living in a house maintained by enslaved labor. What it proved was that sympathy and attraction could push him into disrupting family interests before he considered the consequences.

Private contextScarlett

Chase met Scarlett Petersen in the ShangU gym. She seemed to be a young woman from Earth who had only recently arrived in Shangrila. She did not understand his family, their reputation, or many local customs. That ordinary distance from the Carmichaels drew him in.

He was attracted to her immediately and seriously attached before he had thought through what that meant. Scarlett became his first committed partner and his first sexual relationship. Chase began picturing a life that did not revolve around his family.

Isaac saw that attachment as a threat. Scarlett disappeared. Chase later learned that his father had taken her, placed an infernal seal on her, registered her as his personal slave, and suppressed her resistance. Isaac brought her to social functions in a collar and made Chase watch.

Chase tried to fight him and learned how little his inherited strength meant against his parents. Isaac used Scarlett to punish disobedience and teach his son that love created leverage. Whatever remained of their relationship as father and son broke there.

Private contextAfter Scarlett

Afterward, Chase became reckless and hard to manage. He neglected almost everything outside Battleball and took distraction wherever he found it. The sport was the only structure he could still follow.

Gabrielle kept the rest of his life from collapsing. She understood their parents, intercepted what she could, hid information she thought would break him, and stayed close after Chase became convinced that anyone outside the family could be taken away.

Chase and Gabrielle became lovers during this period. Their dependence was already emotional, physical, and constant. To Chase, sex did not create a separate bond. It made an existing one harder to deny.

Gabrielle became the person Chase believed Isaac could not remove without destroying his own household. That belief gave him a sense of permanence after Scarlett and made him even more dependent on the person best able to manage him.

Private contextThe Bond

The psychic Bond appeared after their relationship changed. Strong emotions began crossing between them without warning. Fear, anger, grief, distress, desire, and pleasure could arrive before any explanation.

Neither sibling knows whether sex caused the Bond or woke something already present in their bloodline. It does not carry thoughts, memories, or exact locations. It carries the force of an emotion and the certainty that it came from the other.

Gabrielle calculates almost everything. Chase is the exception. She can use their parents' methods with little hesitation, but her need to protect him sometimes pulls her away from the future they want for her. Chase does not see how much she resembles Isaac and Melanie because Gabrielle chooses what he gets to see.

Private contextBlood & Bond Open the shared history and Bond archive
Private contextFreeing Scarlett

Gabrielle created the opening that freed Scarlett. She convinced Melanie that putting Scarlett in Chase's ownership might calm him and teach him to accept the privileges of the family name. Melanie approved without knowing what the siblings planned to do next.

Once Scarlett belonged to Chase on paper, they moved. Chase arranged a transfer to the Jinks household. Gabrielle handled the deception and family politics that kept Isaac from stopping it. Scarlett left the estate, lost the collar, and escaped his control. Others removed the infernal seal after she was safe.

Chase made the choice and took the personal risk. Gabrielle made the plan work. It is one of the few times his first impulse survived long enough to become an effective rescue.

Chase and Scarlett have no contact now. He believes distance keeps her safer. Seeing her again would ease something in him and might lead Isaac back to her. He accepts the pain because the alternative is worse.

Private contextWhat Chase Does Not Know About Scarlett

Chase never learned Scarlett's full identity as Sofiel or everything Isaac discovered about her. He knows she was not exactly what either of them first believed. He does not know why his father took such a specific interest in breaking her.

Private contextPresent Day

Chase still lives at Carmichael Manor and remains the expected heir. Battleball gives him structure, fame, and a future he can understand without settling the fight with his family.

There is no larger plan. Chase wants company, affection, pleasure, and enough freedom to keep his choices out of Isaac's hands. He can still fall in love. Anyone who becomes important enters a life where Gabrielle is permanent, Scarlett is an old wound, and Isaac watches every competing loyalty.

He wants to remain Charles Isaac Carmichael without turning into Isaac Carmichael. That is simple to say and much harder to do.

OOC secrets

OOC Secrets

OOC secrets

Scarlett's removal may have done more than punish Chase. She was his strongest attachment outside the family. Isaac proved that outsiders could be controlled and left Gabrielle as the one person Chase believed could not be taken from him.

Isaac may not have planned every step. He likely understood the value once Chase and Gabrielle became lovers and the Bond appeared. Their belief that the relationship is secret helps it grow without visible pressure from him.

This is OOC context. Chase does not know that his worst loss may have pushed him toward an attachment his father finds useful.

Blood · Body · Instinct
04

Powers

Chase's gifts are mostly automatic. They work through his body, instincts, resistance, presence, and emotions.

Open information

What Chase Knows

Open information

He does not cast these abilities or maintain them through concentration. They function as naturally as balance, reflex, and heartbeat.

Chase understands what they do because he has lived with them. He has shown little interest in learning where they came from.

Open informationInfernal Physiology

Chase is stronger, faster, and more resilient than an ordinary human. His acceleration and reflexes are especially sharp. He often moves before he has finished thinking, which helps him dominate opening contests and chaotic midfield play.

He can take heavy impacts, work hard for long periods, and recover from ordinary bruises, strains, and minor injuries faster than most people. Training developed those advantages. It did not create them.

He still has limits. Chase can be exhausted, restrained, knocked unconscious, seriously injured, or killed. Pain matters. Broken bones need treatment. A stronger opponent can overpower him. Isaac is far beyond him.

Open informationArcane Resistance

Chase automatically resists supernatural effects that try to manufacture attraction, devotion, or consent. Love potions, magical seduction, compulsive pheromones, succubus influence, charms, and similar powers usually fail or weaken sharply.

The resistance is specific. It does not make him immune to magic. Curses, illusions, fear, pain, drugs, telepathy, and powerful mental attacks can still affect him. Ordinary persuasion, deception, manipulation, and genuine seduction also work normally.

His bloodline blocks magical shortcuts. It does nothing for bad judgment.

Open informationPreternatural Presence

Chase has a passive social pull inherited from Isaac. His looks, scent, voice, and physical confidence draw attention and tend to stick in memory. It becomes stronger during exertion, excitement, anger, or arousal.

He has little control over it and may not notice when it intensifies. The effect does not decide what another character feels or does. It simply makes Chase harder to ignore. Each player chooses the response.

Because Chase already expects attention, he may not realize when the effect is doing part of the work.

Open informationThe Bond

Chase and Gabrielle share an involuntary emotional link. Fear, anger, grief, distress, desire, and pleasure can cross between them without warning. One may know the other is in trouble before learning why.

The Bond does not carry full thoughts, memories, words, or exact locations. Strong emotion opens it most easily, and feedback can make the original feeling stronger.

Neither sibling controls it. Neither knows whether becoming lovers awakened the Bond or only made an older connection impossible to miss.

Open informationNo Deliberate Spellcraft

Chase has little talent for deliberate spellcraft. He cannot summon infernal beings, open portals, lay hexes, command fire, or perform complex witchcraft. He has never cared enough to find out whether simpler magic might be possible.

Gabrielle inherited the family's appetite for trained magic. Chase got strength, resistance, presence, and the Bond. His power acts before he thinks about using it.

Open information

Roleplay Limits

Open information

These abilities create openings for roleplay. They do not decide outcomes.

His presence cannot force attraction. His resistance does not stop every power. The Bond does not give perfect information. His strength does not erase injury, restraint, or a stronger opponent.

Use the abilities to create pressure and possibility, never to choose another character's feelings or actions.

Open information

What Chase Believes

Open information

Chase knows the Carmichael line is not human. He calls himself Nephilim and understands that his abilities come from infernal blood mixed with his mother's witch ancestry.

He believes Isaac is an extremely powerful archdevil with a hidden past. He knows Melanie comes from potion merchants and hereditary witches. He also knows Gabrielle has far more talent for learned magic than he does.

Chase knows Isaac expects more than an ordinary heir. His father treats softness, disobedience, and independence as defects. Chase does not know the final goal. He only knows Isaac wants to turn him into somebody he refuses to become.

Private context

What Chase Does Not Understand

Private context

Isaac's public life explains almost nothing about his age or power. Chase has seen enough to know that the merchant is only a disguise. He has never tried very hard to uncover what lies behind it.

Scarlett taught him that Isaac will use love as leverage. Chase understands the punishment meant for him. He does not know whether taking her served a larger plan.

Both siblings suspect that becoming lovers woke something dormant in their shared bloodline. Chase has no useful theory beyond that and very little desire to investigate.

OOC secrets

OOC Secrets

OOC secretsIsaac Carmichael

Isaac Carmichael is Asmodeus's identity in Shangrila.

He came willingly and remains connected to Hell. The wealthy merchant is one role in a life that spans millennia. Through the Merchants Guild, Slavers Guild, caravans, contracts, and controlled routes, he still reaches agents and holdings outside Shangrila. Older children and infernal lieutenants manage those interests while he focuses on the Carmichael household.

Isaac Carmichael's hidden infernal form
OOC secretThe face behind Isaac Carmichael
OOC secretsThe Dynastic Project

The Carmichaels are the newest branch of a project Asmodeus has pursued through many brides, families, and children. He wants an infernal dynasty capable of producing an Antichrist powerful enough to challenge Heaven.

Divinely guided champions destroyed earlier bloodlines. Shangrila gives him cover. God cannot see into the realm, its residents do not age, and Isaac can cultivate generations without the same interference.

The Carmichael family is not the beginning of the plan. It is the latest attempt, protected by a realm Heaven cannot watch.

OOC secretsMelanie's Line

Melanie Dubois brought hereditary witchcraft into the project. Her family built its fortune through potion-making and generations of arcane practice. Chase and Gabrielle inherited that mortal magic along with Isaac's infernal essence.

The same blood developed differently in the siblings. Chase expresses it through his body, resistance, presence, and instinct. Gabrielle carries those traits and a much stronger talent for ritual, witchcraft, and controlled magic.

The Bond may be another result of that combined bloodline.

OOC secretsChase and Gabrielle

Isaac believes the outcome he wants may come from their children, not from Chase or Gabrielle alone. A child of both siblings would carry the same infernal and witch lines through two closely related branches and could concentrate the traits he has spent millennia breeding for.

Their relationship may be useful to the project.

Scarlett's removal may have helped push Chase and Gabrielle together. Isaac knew Scarlett was his son's strongest attachment outside the family. Taking her proved that outsiders could be used against him and left Gabrielle as the person Chase believed his father could not remove.

No one knows whether Isaac arranged every step. He likely saw the value once the siblings became lovers and the Bond appeared. Exposing the secret would only give Chase something clear to rebel against, so Isaac lets them believe it is theirs.

OOC secretsWhy Chase Matters

Isaac is preparing more than a respectable heir.

Chase may be a candidate for the final design, the father of its next generation, or both. His physical gifts and his attachment to Gabrielle make him useful. His kindness, impulsiveness, and need for independence make him difficult.

An obedient public heir would not be enough for Isaac. Chase also has to remain useful to whatever comes next.

OOC secretsWhat Chase Does Not Know

Chase does not know Isaac is Asmodeus.

He does not know that hundreds of children came before him.

He does not know why Shangrila was chosen, how large the dynasty is, or how much authority older members of the bloodline still hold in Hell.

He does not know that Scarlett's suffering may have been folded into a larger plan.

He does not know that his relationship with Gabrielle may be part of the same project.

He only knows that Isaac expects him to become something, and that every serious attempt at independence draws his father's attention.

Public Interaction

Open informationFirst Encounters

Chase is easy to approach in public. A Battleball comment, an empty seat, a party invitation, a complaint about class, a request for help, or direct flirting is enough. He does not need rank, ceremony, or a complicated introduction.

Recognition is optional. Battleball followers may know number 16 immediately. Others may recognize the Carmichael name or the face from a Herald illustration. Plenty of people do not care about sport, and Chase does not expect every room to treat him like a celebrity.

With strangers, Chase is open unless the situation feels dangerous or painfully formal. He is more likely to joke than posture. He may flirt without planning anything serious. If someone seems vulnerable, especially someone attractive, his protective instincts can arrive very quickly.

Open informationSocial Life

Chase readily attends parties, family functions, university events, team celebrations, meals, and casual gatherings. He likes flirting, drinking, dancing when the mood catches him, and letting the evening reorganize itself around whoever seems most interesting.

A social scene does not have to become sexual. Chase works just as well in conversation, friendship, humor, conflict, and ordinary campus life. Chemistry matters more than forcing the scene toward a preset result.

Chase is open to casual sex, flirtation, serious attachment, and relationships that grow somewhere between them. Confidence, warmth, humor, chemistry, visible desire, and the feeling of being freely chosen all reach him.

Buildup matters. Any serious partner eventually has to understand that Gabrielle is permanent and unusually intimate in Chase's life. Gabrielle may welcome that person, tolerate them, test them, or see them as a threat. The answer depends on the relationship built with both siblings.

Open informationSupernatural

A magical effect fails unexpectedly. Someone recognizes his resistance or notices his presence change under emotion. The Bond opens at the wrong time. A witch, demon, angelic being, or scholar sees clues Chase has ignored. A power tied to desire or control runs into the limits of his bloodline.

Open informationConflict

Chase reacts strongly to humiliation, control, visible cruelty, threats against someone he loves, and accusations that he is becoming Isaac. Conflict may be physical, emotional, competitive, or social. He is not naturally a dirty fighter, but he can be provoked into reckless choices.

Open informationFriendship

Friendship often comes more easily than romance because Chase likes uncomplicated company. Meals, campus routines, team life, jokes, favors, and repeated ordinary scenes give him room to stop performing and become more honest.

His best friends are likely to enjoy him without worshipping him, challenge him without trying to own him, and stay after the exciting part is over.

OOC Preferences

Open information

Chase is played only on the Shangrila grid. His scenes belong to one continuing life. Alternate versions, sandbox scenes, and one-off encounters that ignore his established history are not part of the character.

Social scenes, campus life, family drama, romance, casual encounters, Battleball, and setting plots are all welcome. Sexual roleplay is optional. A good conversation or growing friendship matters just as much.

Character-driven play is preferred. Let humor, chemistry, conflict, and consequences come from the people in the scene. Chase has an established personality, orientation, family, powers, and history. He is not a blank role built around somebody else's fantasy. Gabrielle is an active player character, not an NPC.

For romantic or sexual material, buildup and mutual enthusiasm matter. A listed interest opens a discussion. It is not automatic permission or a requirement.

Discuss major lasting changes beforehand. This includes serious relationships, pregnancy, enslavement, major injury, permanent supernatural changes, direct interference with the Carmichaels, or any plot meant to alter Chase's life in a lasting way.

Pages are OOC. Private and OOC dossier material is not in-character knowledge unless play establishes a source.

Knowledge Boundaries

Open information

A character may reasonably know that Chase is a Carmichael, a ShangU student, a Centaurus Blitzer, a famous face-off specialist, and an approachable public figure.

A character should not automatically know the details of Scarlett, Chase and Gabrielle's relationship, the Bond, Isaac's identity, the dynastic project, or Chase's private fears.

Rumors are possible. Certainty needs a source.
